Oak Forest Man Dies from Cold Exposure
Officials from the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office say cold exposure and heart disease contributed to resident's death.
Cold exposure contributed to the death of Oak Forest resident Joseph Smith, 79, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
An autopsy on Smith, of the 6500 block of 151st Street, identified cold exposure and heart disease as the cause of death.
Smith was found unresponsive at his home and transported to South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, according to Sun-Times Media reports.

Smith was pronounced dead at 9:25 a.m. Friday. His death was the ninth cold-related death in Cook County this year, according to the report.
