Oak Forest Letter Carriers Cart Off 12,500 Pounds of Food Donations

Oak Forest residents left plenty food for the taking by letter carriers Saturday, May 14.

Local letter carriers say they picked up 12,500 pounds of food donations for St. Damian Food Pantry, during the nation's largest single-day food drive Stamp Out Hunger.

The one-day food drive took place Saturday, May 14. Oak Forest was one of more than 1,500 NALC branches from every state, involving more than 10,000 cities and towns, will have more than 230,000 letter carriers collect non-perishable goods from people’s mailboxes.

Since 1993 the National Association of Letter Carriers has collected more than one billion pounds of food through the event, America’s largest single-day food drive.
