Tuesday, April 6: The Unofficial Results Are In

Election judges across Oak Forest were for the April 5 election. Oak Forest was not alone: of Cook County's 1,395,756 registered voters, 229,570 cast votes, according to the Cook County Clerk's website. Those who voted decided key races.

Ward 5 has a new. The . Bremen District 228 retains incumbents and welcomes back an alumna.

Oak Forest Alderman Richard Simon thinks he knows who won the write-in vote for Ward 7 alderman. He posted the winner as Mark Keating on his Facebook page. We'll see if he's right when the clerk releases the actual vote, which might not be for a few weeks. Patch will update you as soon as possible.

March 28: Additional Candidate Profile Tacked onto Site; Another Question for D228 Candidates

We've added a candidate profile for Kurt Staehlin, candidate for Bremen Township Trustee of Schools. Staehlin's key issue in his candidacy is abolishing the office. We've also followed up with the next question in our set of three for Bremen High School District 228 candidates. It's almost time to vote, so head over to Patch to read up on the candidates and issues.

March 25: Patch Presents Bremen District 228 Candidate Responses

We asked all five candidates for Bremen Community High School District 228 the same three questions. We will feature their responses to each of the questions, before readers head to the polls. Today's question picks candidates' brains on how the district can operate more efficiently.

March 14: Early Voting Kicks Off

Early voting takes place today through March 31 at . Residents can vote during regular business hours. Remember to bring photo ID; state law requires valid identification to an election official before receiving a ballot to vote early. Valid forms of ID include: a current driver’s license, state-issued ID card or another government-issued ID with a photograph.

Important Dates to Remember:
  • March 8: Last day to register to vote or transfer registration
  • March 9: First day for grace period registration and voting
  • March 14: First day for early voting
  • March 29: Last day for grace period registration and voting
  • March 31: Last day for early voting
