Mother of Hooters Pageant Competition Contestant 'So Proud' of Daughter

While Jessica Hauss didn't win the big prize, her family sees a bright future for the Oak Forest native.

Like most mothers likely would be, Laura Szakacs was “freaking out” when she first saw her daughter on television.

, 19, of , recently competed in the Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant. The show aired live on FX Saturday.

Hauss, who works at the Orland Park restaurant, didn’t win the competition. But that didn't faze Szakacs.

“I think being there was the prize, really,” Szakacs said.

Szackacs spent competition night at Hooters with friends and family. She said her daughter spent 10 days in Miami preparing at the swimsuit pageant. One hundred Hooters waitresses from around the country competed for the title of Miss Hooters International.

The winner becomes the official spokeswoman for Hooters and is featured on Hooters national TV commercials, billboards, Hooters Magazine and the Hooters Calendar.

Hauess is a graduate of and is pursuing certification in sports therapy from the National Academy of Sports Medicine in Chicago.

Szackacs said she is "just so proud of her" and was excited to see her on stage. 

Scott Hauss, Jessica's father, said he knew from a young age that she was destined for stardom. 

"Even as a little girl, when you asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she wanted to be a supermodel," Scott said.
