Meet Dave Poninski, the Man Behind the Camera

An Oak Forest native, David Poninski has worked within Oak Forest local TV broadcasting for 5 years. As the new station manager for the Community Information Channel, he hopes to bring back some fan favorites.

He might be the new station manager for Oak Forest's Community Information Channel, but Dave Poninski knows his way with a camera.

Fresh out of Columbia College with a degree in TV writing and producing in May 2010, Poninski found himself with five years of volunteer experience with OFC-TV and an attachment to the community where he grew up.

Poninski landed himself the CIC station manager gig a few months ago. He's hands-on in the community, with event coverage like American Idol viewing parties at Blarney Stone Pub, and the Danny Host fundraiser in January. Since he started, he's been working on programming like:

  • Central Force — a look inside the Oak Forest Police Department
  • Behind the Business — focuses on Oak Forest-Crestwood Area of Commerce members
  • Community Enrichment — focuses on community development in Oak Forest

He's also working to bring back the show All Fired Up, which features live cooking demonstrations by Oak Forest firefighters, with special guests. He's also in charge of the city council meeting broadcasts, which air with item by item descriptions.

"This kind of programming is important, because it allows for transparency," Poninski said.
