Medina Makes Rounds on Media Circuit as Single Gains Steam

Moments after Chris Medina's elimination from American Idol, his fiancee's best friend fans that he knew to "strike when the iron's hot."

"He knows what he has to do now," she said. "He's not going to just sit around and let this be 'that one time he was on American Idol.' ...

"He knows that America already does love him. ... He always was going to make something of himself, but now he has the power to really do it."

It looks as though Mitchell was right.

It's been less than a week since the local favorite's early departure from the Idol stage, and the 26-year-old currently has a single in the top 50 of the iTunes top 200 (number 27 as of March 1). Medina has already visited with , Regis and Kelly, Mario Lopez and MTV.com (to name a few).

The manpower behind Medina's Facebook fanpage is urging listeners to boost the single even higher in the charts. "Let's get him to #1!" the page reads. Medina is among the company of band Train's song Marry Me, Rhianna and Drake's What's My Name? and Taylor Swift's Back to December.

The song has fluctuated in the rankings, ranging from number 77, up to 27, back down to 36—inching back up to 27 as of Tuesday morning. The single is available through iTunes. Watch the video here.

The lyrics were inspired by the love story between Medina and fiancee Juliana Ramos, who suffered aTraumatic Brain Injury in a Oct. 2009 car accident. 

The single was recorded just days before Medina's judgment day on the show. Producer Rodney Jerkins, who has worked with artists such as Lady GaGa and Destiny's Child, tailor-made the song for Medina, and in an article by MTV.com's Kara Warner and Jim Cantiello, applauds his demeanor and work ethic in the studio.
