Lightning Strikes Oak Forest Apartment Building a Second Time

An Oak Forest apartment building was hit by a lightning bolt during Monday's storms—the second time in a month.

The Willis Tower is hit by lightning an average of 40–90 times a year—but just twice was enough for the residents of one Oak Forest building.

An apartment building at 15727 Peggy Lane—struck once three weeks ago—was hit again during Monday's round of storms, Sun-Times Media reports.

Monday's strike hit the west side of the roof; the earlier struck the east side. Both started a fire. The building was empty, after it was declared uninhabitable after the first strike.
