Last Chance to Check Out Firefighter Combat Challenge

The Firefighters Combat Challenge hits Oak Forest this weekend. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Firefighters from around the Midwest are set to descend upon Oak Forest this weekend for the , taking place this Thursday-Sunday, Sept. 13–16. The event, which will be held at 159th and Central Avenue, is a precursor to the National Firefighter Combat Challenge in Myrtle Beach, SC.

The event kicks off Thursday night with a Emergency Responders and Veterans beer tent event, which will have area fire chiefs serving beer to those in attendance. The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers game will also be shown on several televisions.

Friday will feature public competitions of the events, for those who have signed up and paid a $20 fee. There will be live music in the beer tent that night, starting at 8 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday, the real competition starts, as firefighters will take on the course beginning at 10 a.m. both days. The events are free to attend.
