Last Chance: Don't Miss the Start of the Farmers Market

The Oak Forest Farmers Market, returning for a second year, is kicking off on Tuesday.


It's time for locals to get ready to partake of fresh food and hand-crafted items at the  -- with some new things on the horizon.

Returning for the second year, the market will last the entire growing season, from May 29 to Oct 2. Operating hours are 3-7 p.m. every Tuesday in the South Parking Lot of the .

The district opened the  during the month of May as a kick-start to the full Farmer's Market. It ended last Tuesday.

This year, patrons can expect around 30 vendors selling fresh food and arts and crafts each week at the market. In its inaugural season last year, the market started in August and only lasted 10 weeks, according to Kirstin Bardusk, recreation supervisor with the Oak Forest Park District.

Also new to this year, the Park District is looking to do a couple of special events tied in with the market—possibly live music or events for the children, Bardusk said.
