K-9 Comfort Dogs Visit Trinity Lutheran Church

Church members and Trinity students had some one-on-one time with these service animals, which have helped comfort those affected by the tragedies in Newtown and Boston.

The K-9 Comfort Dogs, canines that have received recognition thanks to their visits with victims of the Newtown and Boston tragedies, visited Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Tinley Park last week.

Trained as service animals by Lutheran Church Charities, the Comfort Dogs work with people in nursing homes, hospitals and in disaster situations.

Tim Hetzner, president of Lutheran Church Charities, spoke to Trinity's Lutheran Women's Missionary League on Sept. 12, discussing how the dogs' training and who they work with. The Comfort Dogs then got to meet Trinity Lutheran School students.

Check out the gallery of photos from the visit by Nancy Butterfield, Trinity's admissions counselor.
