Irish Eyes Smiled, and So Did the Sunshine!

Stormy weather couldn't dampen the spirits of Irish Fest fans Memorial Day weekend.

In spite of large puddles (even small ponds) and the continued threat of spontaneous rain shower, the Irish and their friends flocked to Gaelic Park for its 25th Annual Irish Fest. Their Irish eyes were smiling as the sun finally came out on Sunday afternoon. Musicians played, dancers danced, children laughed and played, food was eaten and the occasional beer was poured.

There was a little something for everyone. Fest-goers could attend a mock Irish wake, listen to a wide variety of Celtic bands and watch the Irish dance. The kiddies had a large carnival, Irish animals to pet and ponies to ride. Irish food was in abundance as was Italian food, funnel cakes, a tea room as well as several bars and a wine room.

Whether you are Irish or just wish you were, be sure to mark your calendars for next year's Irish Fest at Gaelic Park in Oak Forest.
