VIDEO: Hometown Crowd Embraces Chris Medina and Band at Oak Fest

After playing a 120,000-person crowd in Norway, Chris Medina and his band The Able Body returned to their south suburban roots for a performance at Oak Fest Wednesday night—and the crowd loved every minute of it.

The setting was a bit smaller than a 120,000-person festival in Norway, but Chris Medina and his band The Able Body were still a little jittery taking the Oak Fest stage Wednesday night.

"I played in front of 120,000 strangers in Norway, but I feel more pressure putting on a good show in my hometown, because this is where I live," Medina said, the day before. "I don't have to face the people in Norway day-to-day. I'm always excited to play. But I'm more nervous about making them proud."

The show wasn't originally in the Oak Fest plans; the fest officially starts Thursday night, and the concert was a sort of last-minute addition. But Medina and his band members found themselves pleasantly surprised, playing to hundreds of screaming fans in a pre-opening night of Oak Fest performance. The rides weren't up and running yet, but the festivities got rolling early for Medina and his guys.

The band played a set of original songs, with a cover of Coldplay's Fix You and The Script's Breakeven. Almost every fan sang along to Medina's single What Are Words, and most jumped at a chance for an autograph. Medina signed T-shirts, guitars, photos—even drumsticks.

But the fans weren't only there for Medina. His fiancée Juliana Ramos had a following of her own. They lined up by the dozen for a photo opportunity with Ramos, and for an .

"It turned out better than I could have expected," Medina said. "It was so awesome to see their support for me, and for Juliana."
