Hille Band Brings Out the Swing at Prairie State College

The Hille Middle School Jazz Band and recently spent the day  at the Prairie State College Jazz Festival with internationally know jazz musicians Orbert Davis on trumpet and Joel Spencer on percussion.

During the students' time at the college they performed a concert and worked with Davis and Spencer, who shared with the students their experiences as professional musicians and how the students could make their music even better, said Hille Band Director Steve Nendza

The judges were  impressed with the overall sound of the band and their ability to play swing jazz music. The students were treated to a concert by Orbert Davis, Joel Spence, saxophonist Ed Peterson, pianist Valerie Nichols and bassist Larry Gray.
