Gov. Quinn Orders Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Fallen Oak Forest Officer

Flags will be lowered to half-staff Saturday, in remembrance of Oak Forest Police Officer Jim Morrissy.

Gov. Pat Quinn has issued notice that respective public entities should lower flags to half-staff Saturday, March 22 in honor of fallen Oak Forest Police Officer Jim Morrissy. 

Morrissy will be laid to rest Saturday, March 22. 

Per Governor Pat Quinn's Office, all persons or entities covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act are to fly the United States flags and state flags at half-staff in honor and remembrance of Police Officer Jim Morrissy of the Oak Forest Police Department until sunset on Saturday, March 22.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 21, from 2 to 8 p.m., at Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st St. in Orland Park. Funeral service Saturday 11 a.m., at Sheehy & Sons. Interment is private. 

Morrissy, 62, died Monday after his squad car was broadsided by another vehicle, while he was en route to assist another officer.

Morrissy is survived by wife Janice, and sons Kyle, Marc and Jake. He is a beloved brother to Michael (Maureen), Colleen, Sean (Cathy) Morrissy and the late Donald and Deborah Morrissy; kind uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews.
