The Oak Forest-Crestwood Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Oak Forest are pleased to announce that former state Senator Maggie Crotty of Oak Forest will serve as the grand marshal of the Oak Forest Fleadh family parade on Saturday, March 9.
The parade steps off at 11 a.m. at 157th Street and Cicero Avenue.
“We are thrilled to honor a woman who has done so much for our community and the state of Illinois,” said Chamber Executive Director Kimberly Malecky-Iles. “We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
As grand marshal, Crotty and her family will lead more than 80 parade units, including pipe and drum bands, civic and community groups, schools and churches, and local businesses along Cicero Avenue. The Oak Forest Fleadh celebrates Irish culture and tradition as well as the people and businesses of Oak Forest.
Crotty ended her 16-year career as a state legislator last month. Before leaving office, she was instrumental in helping the City of Oak Forest secure funding for a new Metra train station.
Crotty began her legislative career as a state representative in 1996 and moved to the state Senate in 2002. She currently serves as Bremen Township supervisor.
