Fore! Golf Outing To Benefit Raiders Football Team

Pencil it in— the 12th annual golf outing to benefit the Oak Forest Raiders will be held Friday, August 12.

For 41 years, the Raiders youth football team has been a part of the Oak Forest identity. Many of the players have went on to tackle and score for the local high schools and Big Ten universities.

To kick off the upcoming season, a golf fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, August 12. The outing held at the , is to help curb an increase in registration prices for the players. Alderman Chuck Toland said that last year was the first year that the prices had to be increased in 25 years. Tee time is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The golf event is in its 12th year and has raised a total of $70,000 for the team.

"Our goal is to create good citizens first, teach them the fundamentals of football: teamwork, working together and attaining goals," said Toland. "At the same time, also teaching them to be good football players."

Raiders president Greg James is looking forward to the fundraiser as a time to reunite with old coaches, players and supporters. He will also be participating as a golfer.

"We usually get compliments that our kids know what they're doing, wherever they go," he said.
