Expect Shoveling to be 1st Thing You Do in 2014

About 4 to 8 inches of snow are expected to fall between now and Wednesday in Oak Forest and the surrounding area.

First, we got a white Christmas. Now, it looks like we'll have a white New Year's Day by the time 2014 rolls into town.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, with snow falling throughout the evening. A heavier period of snow is expected to begin by morning and continue into the afternoon, the weather service reports.

By the time the snow ends, Oak Forest and surrounding communities could receive about 4 to 8 inches of accumulation, according to the weather service.

Motorists should be especially careful driving Tuesday night after attending any New Year's Eve celebrations. Remember to call the Safe Ride Home Program if you're too impaired to drive.

Was on a conference call with the NWS today and currently in Oak Forest we are expecting another 2-4 inches from now til tonight. Tomorrow early there will be the threat of lake effect snow with heaviest closer to the lake shore. those commuting to work in the morning should plan for hazardous driving conditions.. a lake effect snow warning may be issued later this evening replacing the winter weather advisory. I will try to update my blog if I have time tonight. typing this on my phone at the moment.
