We read a great piece in the SouthtownStar about coyotes in the southland. Patch editor Lauren Traut has spotted one trotting around her neighborhood — where have you seen or heard coyotes?

  • Melanie Sanchez: I hear coyotes at least once a week. I've also seen them in the fields near my home by oak forest hospital.
  • Charles Smith: Coyotes on 147th west of Central, and foxes at 153rd and Laramie.
  • Alisa Edith Flynn: I've seen them in the past at Ridgeland and Forestview. Very early morning hours while walking the dog. They ran off when they heard us. It's sad and disgusting to hear that Grundy county is putting a price on their heads! Boo Grundy County!!! Is anyone else outraged by this???

Fans loved our . Some were sweet enough to comment (and Hille band director Steve Nendza might have stolen the comments show).

  • Steve Nendza: Thanks for the jazz band video and the great article!!!
  • Steve Nendza: I'll be sending the link to all of the staff at Hille, the school board and my band parents. Thanks for all of your work to report all the great things that are happening in OF.
  • Wendy Master: Thank you Mr. Nendza for doing what you're doing for our kids in OF. Music is a big part of my son's life now. The jazz band sounded great!

A heavy dose of early in the week. What did you think of the news?

  • Patty McKeon Kovats: I'm emotional about it all, except I get downright (irked) when I hear Preckwinkle wants to give her 2nd in charge a $43,000 raise. I have 8 coworkers who lost their jobs. Same 'ol Cook County at work.

Knights of Columbus spelling bee star and St. Damian seventh-grader Warren Frye spelled out the perfect :

  • Mary Ryan Cavanaugh: Congrats to Warren!
Caution: You are about to enter 'Medina Mania.' Hard hat required.

On Wednesday night, we had to ask: what'd you think of Medina's performance? (Sidenote: Check it out! We've got a reader in Massachusetts!)

  • Dameuris Feliz: He seemed very confident in what he was doing. His voice sounded great and can't wait to hear more tonight!
  • Dameuris Feliz: I'm actually outside of Boston, Ma :) I've been faithfully reading on your site since last week. Love the live blogs. Keep up the great work!
  • Jaime Gall- Sawicki: Great!!!! I'm so excited to see how this season goes. :)
  • Dameuris Feliz: No I am not a native.. been raised in Mass most of my life (born in Dominican Republic)... I am just part of the very large group of people around the world that is captivated by them!

We only caught snippets of his performance Thursday night as we were busy at the St. Damian Golden Gala Fashion Show, and we had trouble hearing it, but reader Paula Beahan kept us in the loop!

  • Paula Ramirez Beahan: He did well! I think they gave him more interview time then song time, though. He'll make it.

...an hour later...

  • Paula Ramirez Beahan: He made it!!!!!!

Have you had a "Patch Editor Sighting" like reader and fan Paula Beahan? You can't miss the Patch laptop! Tell us where!

  • Paula Ramirez Beahan: ‎Oak Forest Patch editor sighting at the OF Rotary breakfast! It was nice to meet you, Lauren, and watch you "do your thing."

A few weeks ago, we featured the . Since the article appeared on the site, the program has expanded, with city staff jumping in, along with other local and surrounding groups.

  • Marye Greenys: Thanks to Oak Forest Patch and Tinley Park Patch more organizations are joining in on Anna Greenys Bedmats for Homeless Veteran's Program. Don't forget to let them know if you know a Whiz Kid they can feature!
