The Church has nurtured, supported, and been responsible for the Pack since its inception in 1971, according to Pack Committe Chair Jason Akai. The pack has over 50 scouts from eight different schools in Oak Forest, Midlothian, Crestwood, and Tinley Park.

"The car wash is one of the Pack's annual fundraisers which gives the scouts a chance to help the pack do more, and for them to have fun in the process. Cub Scouting is always about fun with a purpose," said Christina Petrusek, the pack's fundraising chairwoman.

Through cleaning of dirty cars and kind donations from customers, the scouts raised over $350. Lunch was provided by Palos Heights Aurelio's Pizza, and water from the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.

Jenelle Slaviero, the pack's new popcorn chairwoman, mentioned that this money "will help cover most of the expenses of the fishing derby in September, which is a new event for us — so we're definitely looking forward to it!"
