Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda? Not This Year, Say OF Patch Facebook Fans

We asked our Facebook fans what they'll change this year, and they came up with some great answers. What will you change? What will you do differently?

It's easy to set some pretty lofty resolutions. One day you look in the mirror, set your sights, lift your chin and proudly state, "This year will be better than the last."

You'll quit smoking. You'll lose weight. You'll be nicer to your in-laws. You'll take up running. You'll spend more time with family. And you'll stick to your word.

...For a few days, at least. Maybe for a few weeks—and for the truly dedicated ones, months.

At some point, the mirror fogs up. The finish line is clouded over with distraction, temptation, or just plain resignation.

I know—some things are a lot easier said than done. So consider me your New Year's Resolution Enforcer, Oak Forest. It even comes with a badge.

I asked our Facebook fans  what they'll change this year—in some cases, it's a noticeable fact. In others, it's a state of being or a frame of mind.

Here's what I've heard so far.

This year, I'll change:

  • Danielle Abendroth: the way I think....I'm going to try focus more on the positive instead of the negative...
  • James Traut: My weight. Got a big day in 2012!
  • Dave Matzinger: The channel, whenever "Jersey Shore" or "Teen Mom" comes on.
  • Shana Mehr: My shopping habits.
  • Sharon Steuber: Change! Hope everyone gets it!
  • Margaret Ellyn Johansen: My ATTITUDE!!!
  • Kathleen Bard Richmond: My job!
  • Patch Editor Lauren Traut: My self-image

All pretty admirable, in my opinion. What do you want to change, readers?

I'm in your corner. I hope that each day of the new year brings you closer to attaining your goals.

And if I see you trying to eat a donut, you can count on me to swat it out of your hand. Except for my big brother, because I know he can still kick my butt.
