Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Members of Boy Scout Troop 341 work hard to raise funds, earn merit badges and learn skills that build character. Through popcorn sales, pancake breakfasts and car washes, the boys fund their own activities.

According to its website, the Boy Scouts of America program provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. Troop members begin as scouts, moving up through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and ultimately, Eagle Scout. Half of the troop's members currently hold the Star ranking, with one Eagle Scout among them, named T.J. The Eagle Scout ranking requires a scout meet merit badge requirements, in addition to completing a project that is created with only donated materials and time.
