Blarney Stone Backs St. Baldrick's Day Again

Blarney Stone Pub staff can only hope this year's event will be as big a success as the last.

The 2013 event saw 68 shavees and raised a total of $24,456 toward research for a treatment for childhood cancers. The Blarney Stone St. Baldrick's team is at it again, with this year's event planned for March 22, from 2 to 6 p.m. The bar is set high, with a fundraising goal of $25,000.

"With only a little over a month to reach this, we are beyond confident that with all of your help, love, support, and generous donations we can surpass this!" wrote the organizers on a Facebook page.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a national non-profit organization that raises money for childhood cancer research. Volunteers with the organization typically host special events in which they shave their heads in solidarity with children who lost their hair during cancer treatment.

"Will you help and be a part of making this our best year yet?!" ask the organizers. "Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
 
"Remember, we have been granted with so much, it's only fair to share it with those around us!"
