This Week's Pet: Second Time's the Charm for 'Vanilla' the Beagle?

Vanilla was adopted from PAWS in late October, but it wasn't the right fit for the tan and white Beagle.

PAWS employees thought they had found the perfect place for 2-year-old Beagle Vanilla.

But shortly after she left PAWS for her new home, her owners brought her back, telling PAWS that she was too active for their lifestyle. The droopy-eared, tan and white hound now waits for another new home. When Patch visited, Vanilla was calm and cuddly, in search of a good scratch beneath the chin or behind the ears. She sat quietly while a volunteer rubbed her back and belly.

Vanilla needs someone who can love her for the sweet, pretty pup that she is. She also enjoys regular walks and time outdoors.

ABOUT THE BREED

Though every dog is different, Beagles as a breed are known as sociable, brave and intelligent dogs that are excellent with children and generally good with other dogs. Beagles excel with regular, disciplined training and proper exercise. They do well with a fenced-in yard in which to romp, and might howl instead of bark. They are short-haired and smooth-coated, accoring to the American Kennel Club website. The most famous Beagle of all is Snoopy, from the comic strip Peanuts.
