A Free Nook? No Way! Acorn Celebrates National Library Week

Last week was National Library Week and in Oak Forest, the Acorn Public Library went all out, raffling off a Nook Simple Touch eReader to one lucky patron.

joined others across the country for National Library Week April 8 through April 14, and celebrated in style by giving away a Nook Simple Touch eReader.Each check-out put patrons in the running for the free Nook. The winner was announced during a patron appreciation event April 13.

said that the contest received several hundred entries, which was a bit more than the library expected during the week.

“People were very excited, I think,” Werthmann said. “It's real cool to win a Nook and obviously, we have a lot of readers who come in, so I think it was the perfect prize.”

Wethman declined to identify the winner. Along with the contest, the library also posted photos on its Facebook page featuring various staff members at the library.

“We just wanted to show people what a day in the life at the library might be like,” Werthmann said.

Werthmann added that he, and the rest of the staff at the library, wanted to thank the residents of Oak Forest for their continued support of the library and that he hopes to continue to bring excellent services to all of the library's patrons.
