U.S. REPRESENTATIVE ROBIN KELLY'S OFFICES ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION AT SSC

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL– United States Representative Robin Kelly will be hosting the Second Congressional District Regional High School Art Awards Reception at South Suburban College on Saturday, April 26th beginning at 9:00 a.m., in the Lee E. Dulgar Gallery.  Representative Kelly will announce the student winners and runner-ups from participating regional high schools at the event. 

Participating students must reside or attend a school within the Second Congressional District. Students who attend a Second Congressional District high school may submit artwork through their high school offices, and all participants may also submit their works by appointment at one of Representative Kelly’s three district offices, April 14th through April 19th between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Artwork must be two dimensional, framed no larger than 28” x 28” x 4” and can include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, photographs, computer generated art, or mixed media (use of two or more mediums such as pencils, ink, watercolor, etc.).  All artwork must be original.  The winner’s artwork will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year. 

The high school art competition was established by the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982 to acknowledge and support the artistic talent of America’s young adults.  For more information, call Danielle Echols at (708) 679-0078.
