Small Business Saturday in Oak Forest

The holiday shopping season is about to start, but when deciding on those special gifts, think about looking in unusual places, small shops, boutiques – the kind of places that make Main Street America so special. Just beyond the lights and decorations, there are stores where little dreams can be found.  Nov. 30 is Small Business Saturday, which is designated to encourage holiday shoppers to stay local. It’s a small but special way that Oak Forest consumers can support the small businesses in their own community.

The Illinois Taekwondo State Association (ITSA) would like to encourage Oak Forest shoppers to participate in this event. Retail shops, coffee houses and even taekwondo schools need the support of those residing in their area.

“I’m a small business owner myself, so I know how important it is to receive the support of the folks in your own community,” said ITSA President Luciano Medina, explaining the organization’s interest in promoting local shopping. “Oak Forest-area taekwondo schools are small businesses too; they’re run by local entrepreneurs, employ local residents and provide services to shoppers.”

When deciding to open a business in Oak Forest, entrepreneurs take many aspects into consideration, including the fact that they are committing themselves to the area. This Saturday, and throughout the holiday season, ITSA would like to encourage Oak Forest residents to return that commitment by shopping in Oak Forest because you never know where dreams can be found with big smiles to follow.
