Severe Weather Spotter Training/Course

Last November, a devastating tornado hit Washington, Illinois. The loss of life was not as high as it could have been thanks to trained spotters, who reported the tornado - providing advance warning to residents. The National Weather Service (NWS) conducts free training seminars every year at various locations to anyone interested in learning how to identify and report severe weather. Individuals who complete the two-hour training receive a two-year certification as trained spotters from the NWS.

A training session will be held in Oak Forest on Friday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 15440 S. Central Avenue. Although pre-registration is not required, it is appreciated.
