Oak Forest HS's Stephanie Bird Takes First Place at FCCLA State Competition

Recently, Oak Forest High School Senior Stephanie Bird competed at the FCCLA (Family, Career & Community Leaders of America) State competition in Springfield in the event “Fondant Cake Decorating.”  Stephanie received a First Place - Most Outstanding rating out of approximately 25 students from around the State.  In addition to winning First Place, Bird received a $12,000 scholarship to Kendall College.  This is the first time anyone from District 228 has ever received a First Place - Most Outstanding!  Bird’s assigned decorating theme was high school or college graduation cake.  The winning cake is on display in the Oak Forest High School Instructional Materials Center.  Bird was assisted by classmate, Senior Valerie Ramos.  Ms. Kristina Dace is her FCCLA adviser.
