Oak Forest HS Students Earn ServSafe Certificate

Recently, four Oak Forest High School students celebrated earning their ServSafe Manager’s Certificate.  The students were part of a group of culinary arts students who took a safety and sanitation class, and then completed the online test.

Micah Furstenau, Creshawn Slaughter, Andrew Schauf, and Stephanie Bird earned certificates.  Creshawn Slaughter said that the experience “Was not too bad, but not just anyone can do it.”  Students had to study hard to pass the test.  Culinary Arts teachers Ms. Vicki Vogal, Mr. Mark Furstenau, Ms. Kathryn Picht and Ms. Kristina Dace helped to prepare the students for the test.

According to Mrs. Renee Mack, District 228 Director of Career and Technology, “District 228 is preparing students for the real world; giving them a chance to earn certificates beyond a diploma in their educational experiences.  The students who earn this ServSafe Manager’s Certificate can work in a food service job.”
