Oak Forest HS Mathletes Take Second Place at Conference Meet
Recently, the Oak Forest High School Mathletes Team took Second Place at the SSC Blue Mathletes Conference meet at Tinley Park High School. The Bengal Mathletes were a close eight points behind First Place Lemont.
The Oak Forest seniors swept all four senior events with wins in major categories. The senior Asymptote Team of Jordan Hoang, Jason Marvin, Jainesh Patel, Annie Samoska, Liza Souboch and Wyatt Kurtz scored a perfect 10. Also sweeping their events were the senior Solving Triangles team of Kika Arias, Anthony Berrios, Akash Jani, Austin Jester, Sara Papiez and A.J. Sampang; and the senior Pre-Calculus Team of Jordan Hoang, Wyatt Kurtz, Jason Marvin and Liza Souboch. The Geometric Probability oral presentation by Jason Marvin, with the assistance of Joe Muller, swept their senior event with a perfect score of 25.
Other event champions were: The sophomore Geometry Team of Kika Arias, Nicole Borosak, Jenna Brown and Vlad Souboch; and the freshmen Linear Equations Team of Amir Al Sheikh, Ivan Czajkowksi, Tessa Damien, Ni’Gere Epps, Emily Papiez and Rachel Sayegh. The Bengal Mathletes are coached by Oak Forest High School teachers Ms. Sue Poncin, Ms. Melanie Gengo and Mr. Ken Valiska.
