On Monday night, the Oak Forest Bengals missed their first 4 shots, all from long range before pounding it inside. Making their next 4 from short range, the Bengals were on their way to an easy opening round win vs Longwood in the 2012 3A Illinois State Playoffs. Leading by as much as 32, the Bengals rested their starters the entire 4th quarter. Reserves Tom Shute, Ryan Walton and David Gray got career highs with 10, 8 and 8 respectively. Unofficial totals had Tim Loeding with 13, Kyle Funkhouser - 10, TJ Mayer - 10, Tom Zale - 6, and Mario Schaeffer - 5. Sophomores who were called up for the playoffs got action as well, Christian Tidball scored 4 while dishing off unselfishly for a couple more baskets, Nick Ciufia - 2, and Jason Roland split a pair of free throws. Juniors Blake Waller, Mike Ward, Muse Abushakra, and Freshman Kyle Flanagan saw plenty of action as well.
Competition gets tougher on Tuesday as Oak Forest faces the Sectional's 6th ranked team, Harlan of Chicago.
