I'm extremely concerned, I watched this race and at 8:46pm Alyssa dumped over 1500 votes. This is unnatural and scientifically impossible. I truly believe there was a counting program in place which means the credibility of the system is questionable. In addition, I have watched and researched previous polls and the mere fact that every time the Catholic school nonomiee comes up against a public school athlete, the catholic school student wins by an unreachable sum in the last minutes. Should this raise several eyebrows? I think the last competition should be refreshed and that all parties need to play fair. Finally, I think Patch must monitor their voting system and red flag votes that don’t make sense. Why not stand behind your paper if you want your audience to just believe?

Sorry "Crystal Clear" but it's easy to get votes through the internet via social networking and simply sharing the link and asking friends and family to support Alyssa. She has a huge family and alot of friends and supporters. Maybe you should just accept that it's because of her skills and great support system that she made it and not just chalk it up to fraud.

I don't need to accept anything. I'm stating facts. It you promote Fraud then you will never live up to anything. Plus if one starts out playing unfair then the worst is yet to be seen. And any idiot knows the power of social networking when it is done right.

There is no fraud here. Every athlete nominted here is in effect an Athlete of the Week for his or her school. Our poll serves as a means for their fans to rally and show their support in the voting. We have seen huge runups in the vote totals. One can sit in front of his/her computer and vote early/often. Our tech team is working on adding safeguards to our poll functions that will limit repeat voting. Since there is no "material" benefit here, we're OK with the system as it is now. It's just for bragging rights and just for fun. At the end of each month, we pick a Patch Athlete of the Month to feature and base that selection on sound judgment, not repeating voting.

Hate is such a strong word, who said that? Maybe a self evalation is required when one thinks cheating is a truly winning. It may have worked in Florida but it does not fit in Illinois. “Truth” while you choose a great name maybe you should follow your own advice…SHUT UP! Pretending to win by cheating is NOT WINNING AT ALL. THIS IS A LESSON THAT YOU CAN LEARN ONCE YOU FOLLOW YOUR OWN ADVICE.
