UPDATE: Bloom Township's Kendall McGinnis is Patch MVP

Kendall McGinnis connected on a Hail Mary pass to lift Bloom past Thornwood 20-14 in the Trojans' football opener. Then, he outpolled 10 others in fan balloting for Patch MVP, Aug. 20-26. McGinnis now is eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month honors.

In voting for Patch's MVP for Aug. 20-26, who gets the biggest roar from the crowd?
Evergreen Park's Chelsea Christopher had seven digs and five kills in a 26-24, 25-21 victory over Queen of Peace.
Stagg's Jill Conrad racked up 27 service points, 12 assists and 11 kills in victories over Wheaton North (25-15, 25-18) and St. Joseph (25-10, 25-3).
Mother McAuley's Ryann DeJarld had 11 digs and eight kills in a 25-23, 29-27 victory over Joliet Catholic Academy.
Lincoln-Way East quarterback Tom Fuessel combined to rush and pass for nearly 150 yards in the Griffins' 31-6 football victory over Carmel. He accounted for two touchdowns.
Dave Karwoski was one of the ring leaders in a red-hot start for the Oak Forest boys golf team. He shot even-par 36 in the Bengal's 157-192 victory over Eisenhower at George Dunne.

QB Matt Page of Brother Rice had a pretty decent day with 22 of 40 for 275 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Where is Bloom Township? Really Mary? High school sports are a subject everyone can be interested in. Our basketball team made it to the final four last spring by beating teams such as those in your area.
