What Should Go Here? Vacant Lot Along Cicero Avenue

Located along busy Cicero Avenue, the vacant lot at the corner of Cicero and 155th Street is up for sale or lease. Patch wants to know: What Should Go Here?

Business spaces throughout Oak Forest are open for rent, lease or purchase—ready-made structures waiting to be filled.

However, at the corner of Cicero Avenue and 155th Street sits an empty lot, with nothing but potential waiting to be seized.

The lot could be the home of a future small business, a national retailer or gas station. The lot is up for lease or sale by the Mid-American Real Estate Corporation.

Patch wants to know: What Should Go Here? Sound off in the comments below.

Parties interested in the lot can contract Mid-American Real Estate at (630) 954-7376 or (630) 954-7358.

A Russell Speeder Carwash (New name for the company that ran the former MinuteMan carwash there before)

PS, Who has the whole story on what happened with the property anyways? I always heard the rumor that Delta Sonic leased it from out under them to eliminate the competition.

I truly miss the excellent carwash that could be had for $5 with one of their coupons in the paper.

As we all remember, they were extremely popular. I would go there myself as would other family members and neighbors. Delta Sonic took notice to this and bought the property to the north and put a camera there to monitor how many cars were going in there. Them buying that land also prevented MinuteMan from expanding. Delta began making a series of offers to buy the property and kept getting turned down until I guess the price was right and they sold. I've heard that there is a 'no car wash' stipulation that goes with the land. Not sure how true that is though.

MinuteMan was the best car wash around and I refuse to go to Delta because of that. I either go to Fullers or Tower, but I like Fullers better with the free vacs.

Mike, I also do not go to Delta for the same reason. I understand the business move but they left us with an eyesore and expect our $$ to go to Crestwood or Orland. Thanks for helping our town look run down Delta Sonic.

The owners of this erye sore shoild be made to repair the grounds and plant grass and srubery. they should have to put benches for towns people to relax and enjoy parades and the weather. THE OWNERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH DESTROYING OAK FOREST MAIN STREET (OR ANY OTHER PROPERTY FOR NO ONES FINICIAL BENEFIT EXCEPT THEM). In some cities it is called " Adopt a lot and beautifiy" it not just take our taxe money and run ).

There must be something wrong with the Oak Forest business climate. Crestwood, Tinley Park, Orland, Palos Hts. seem to have no problem getting "quality" businesses in there communities. People travel down 159th to go shop in Tinley and Orland and pass Oak Forest up.
