Oak Forest sophomore Danny Swan will have plenty of time before he writes his wrestling swan song.
For now, he can feel good about winning the Class 2A state championship in the 106-pound weight class.
Swan edged Nkosi Moody of Rich Central 4-2 in a tense overtime thriller in the final on Saturday at Assembly Hall in Champaign. Swan was one of two Bengal individuals to return home with a medal hanging around his neck.
Senior Alec Brown placed fourth in the 220-pound weight class. Brown won 3-of-4 matches before dropping a 5-2 decision to Montini's Edgar Ruano in the third-place match.

I was there!! Way to go Danny Swan and Alec Brown as well as all qualifiers from our area schools, including Patrick Kristen, Francis Edelen, Mousa Jodeh, and Jim Kluk of Oak Forest. Jake Domke, Frank Voltattorni & Jason Kaminski of Marian Catholic, Mario Leveille from Marist and many others from surrounding suburbs. Many of these guys are not seniors yet. Look out next year!!! Some of the best wrestling in the country right here in our gyms! Kudos to some great coaching in high school and all through IKWF!!!! where they all got a great start!
