SATURDAY, NOV. 12
A woman was shopping at Jewel-Osco, 5616 W. 159th St., when someone snatched her purse from the tray of her shopping cart, police said. Surveillance video shows someone making off with the black-and-silver purse, but no arrests have been made.
Clothes Taken from Trunk
Someone carted off a bag with $400 in men's clothing inside from the trunk of a man's car, according to police. The man was shopping at Jewel, 5616 W. 159th St. for about a half-hour, and when he returned his trunk was open and the bag was missing. The owner might have accidentally left the trunk ajar by inadvertently pressing a button on his remote, he told police.
FRIDAY, NOV. 11
'Hello, My Name Is ...'
A woman police stopped for driving 40 mph in a 20 mph zone could only tell police her name, police said. Lidia Guerrero, 34, of the 4800 block of 157th Street in Oak Forest, could not produce a valid drivers license or proof of insurance. Police issued her citations for speeding, no valid proof of insurance and no valid drivers license. She was given a Dec. 5 court date.
Stealing from the Dead
A man caring for his deceased mother's apartment in the 15800 block of Terrace Drive told police that someone smashed a window and stole checks and cash from her funeral. The man has been commuting from his Chicago home and returned to her residence to find the window broken and the apartment ransacked.
MONDAY, NOV. 7
BB Shot through Car Window
Someone used a BB gun to shoot the rear window of a 1992 Plymouth Voyager at Sundberg Co., 15124 S. Cicero Avenue, police said. Damage was about $300.
