The entire Sandburg wrestling team deserves recognition for winning the state championship. But if we have to pick one guy for the poll, it's Chris Pajak. He upset OPRF's unbeaten state champion Joe Ariola to give Sandburg a lead in the state quarterfinals, and he won his other matches in later rounds. Ricky Robertson and Colin Holler also took care of business, finishing undefeated. Courtesy of Sandburg

Lincoln-Way Central senior Brendan Ditchman stood out in the state wrestling tournament, topping Edwardsville's Matt Kemp in the sectionals and winning all three of his matches at state, helping the Knights to a fourth-place finish at state.
Stagg's Sean Dwyer finished with 19 points to keep his team close in a 64-61 loss to Lincoln-Way North.
Marian Catholic junior Ashton Millender made a 25-foot buzzer-beater to top Marist 54-52 in the playoffs.
