OF Native's New Business to Appear on 'My Fair Wedding'
Todd DeVos, a 1986 graduate of Oak Forest High School and his company, TechnoFloors, design, operate and created customized dance floors. Their work will appear on 'My Fair Wedding with David Tutera,' Dec. 8 on WEtv.
The hard work and creativity of an Oak Forest High School alum will soon light up television screens across the country.
TechnoFloors, created by Todd DeVos, will be featured on a Dec. 8 episode of 'My Fair Wedding with David Tutera' on WE tv. DeVos developed, designed and operates the company—which produces a one-of-a-kind illuminated dance floor experience for customers.
“This is a make or break for an American company,” DeVos said. “There's not too many start-up companies in America doing electronics. Yeah, it's a huge ordeal for us.”
The show first contacted the company, which is about a year old, on a Monday and through a whirlwind of events, DeVos was filming in Los Angles Saturday of the same week. The dance floor will appear in a Vegas-themed episode of the show, which features Tutera granting engaged couples the wedding of their dreams.
“We've got the Cirque Du Soleil dancers dancing on our floor, the bride actually walks down the floor—we light it like a white aisle—to get married," DeVos said.
DeVos provided his services free of charge to the couple whose wedding was featured on the show.
“It's an all-donation thing, so being such a small company it was a large financial thing to do for free,” DeVos said.
Before he was known on a larger scale as an entrepreneur, he was locally famous for another reason—his name. An Oak Forest resident and a 1986 graduate of Oak Forest High School, he is a member of the DeVos brood, and also grandson to the city's second mayor, Casey Jones.
“My grandfather was the second mayor of the city, back when it was called Arbor Park,” he said. “I have hundreds and hundreds of relatives in Oak Forest, my other grandfather had 16 kids, so my family is all over the place.”
Don't forget to tune into WE tv Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. to watch the spotlight shine on DeVos and his company, TechnoFloor!
