Man Found Dead after Apartment Fire in Midlothian

As of Thursday evening, police have not identified the victim, who appears to be in his early 20s, Sun-Times Media reports.

Officials are investigating the cause of a fire in a Midothian apartment building, after a man was found dead inside the unit where the fire occurred, Sun-Times Media reports. 

The man, who police estimate was in his early 20s, has not been identified, according to the report. Cause of death is pending investigation by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. 

Midlothian firefighters responded to a call for an apartment fire in the 3600 block of West 147th Street around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The man is believed to have lived alone, and was alone at the time of the fire, Deputy Police Chief Steve Zamiar told a Sun-Times reporter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
