Dotty's Gets Liquor License OK from City Council

Dotty's, a country-style kitchen restaurant, was approved for a liquor license at the city council's Jan. 8 meeting. The business is currently under review by the building commission and continues to move towards opening soon.

A new restaurant in Oak Forest took another step towards completion at the Oak Forest city council meeting Jan. 8, as the council approved a liquor license for Dotty's, 6070 W. 159th Street. The council approved the move in a unanimous vote, 7–0.

According to Community Development Director Adam Dotson, Dotty's is a country-style kitchen with video gambling terminals. He added that the council's approval was only one step in the process towards getting the establishment fully into Oak Forest.

“They do have a building permit application in, in the building department,” he said. “They're having their plans reviewed at this moment. But, in order for them to move forward they do need a liquor license approval at this moment.”

Dotson added that the establishment should appeal to the Oak Forest community with its wide menu selection, four-drink maximum and gaming opportunities.

“It's not a place where you would hang out all night and have sodas there,” Dotson said. “The main intent there is to provide amenities for those individuals that are willing to go into those establishments to use those gaming machines.”

He continued by saying that he believes the establishment will be applying for five gaming terminal licenses closer to its opening.

Even the bowling alley has video gambling. Do you doubt that the city has a watchful eye to make sure no one under 21 is using them? How could you turn down one when we have so many others in town?

That's a great point, why shut down the others that may be allowing an illegal activity, instead, let's add some more.
Since I see people speeding all the time, we should just get rid of all those silly speed limits.
While we are at it, who needs to keep underage kids from drinking and smoking, there are a lot that do it so why not allow all kids that want a smoke and a beer to just have them.
