Court Supervision: Drew Peterson WithDrewal?
The week was packed with Drew Peterson, but it looks like we're not going to be seeing so much of him anymore.
It was Drew Peterson all day every day in the week that just ended.
It started out with a hearing to see if he needs to have a new murder trial, and that hearing went on for another two days.
A college professor and a retired judge both got on the witness stand and told how former Peterson attorney Joel Brodsky not only failed to provide effective counsel at this summer's murder trial, but also committed an ethical violation by entering into a publicity contract with his client.
Brodsky's former law partner got up as well and claimed Brodsky physically attacked her in the Chicago office they shared.
Even Brodsky had to testify, and told all about the 11 cents he and Peterson made off a website set up to solicit donations for the disgraced ex-Bolingbrook cop.
After all of that, Will County Judge Edward Burmila took a night to think about things, then came back to say he wasn't giving Peterson another trial.
That was when Peterson got a chance to share his feelings with everyone in the courtroom, and it sounded like he wasn't feeling all that great at the moment.
"I didn't kill Kathleen!" he screamed before settling in for a lengthy rant about how Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow and the Illinois State Police—not without a little help from a "ridiculous" Lifetime movie—conspired to frame him for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
Peterson got to speak his piece, then Judge Burmila gave him 38 years in prison and sent him back to jail. But not for long!
Instead of waiting for the weekly bus to take him and the rest of the prison-bound prisoners up to Stateville, the sheriff's department shipped Peterson off on a special trip. It was a brief visit, as only hours later they took him to his new home in Pontiac Correctional Center.
And that was that, pretty much the whole week right there. Well, there were a couple other things, like another lawsuit filed against embattled Frankfort pediatrician Kishor Jain, and a second armed robber pleading guilty and getting 22 years for sticking up an Orland Park jewelry store. But it was really all about Peterson.

He was convicted only and I mean only on bullshit hearsay. That's such a crock! ! Show me physical evidence or proof he was in the house to commit the so called murder. I'm not saying he innocent yet alone guilty beyond and I mean beyond a reasonable doubt. I think the jury found him guilty only on their gut instinct. Juries are stupid at times!

Ron I agree with you! Where is the evidence? I certainly wouldn't. All you people that sent comments on my jury. Where is the EVIDENCE. All the jurors got on the Bandwagon, but didn't listen. To the music. They marched to the BEAT OF THEIR. OWN. DRUM. So many juries are stupid, some even senile. How. About those people the SO. Called juries that. Convicted people, only years &. Years the victim is found. INNOCENT. Thru. DNA. And after polling jurors after those. Convictions, when you hear their comments, they give assanine reasons. Now folks, drew Peterson has children, & they read these comments. It is very hurtful. For them. To have to read all the nasty comments, have a heart. People. Maybe. Someday. I will Be. Your JUDGE, JURY. AND. HANGMAN I would have voted. Not. Guilty

How many falsely accused prisoners that served 15,20,25 years have been released the past couple of years after DNA or other evidence cleared them. They were all convicted on lack of or no physical evidence and were only convicted on witness testimony. Thus Drew convicted only on junk hearsay and no physical evidence at all. Can he be one of he fasely accused?? I'm not saying he's innocent let alone guilty beyond and I mean beyond a reasonable doubt!!

Put emotions aside and use some common sense. Anyone that thinks prosecuting and convicting a man based on hearsay evidence is a moron. He said/she said and 3rd party inuendo to prosecute someone & convict? Only in the Socialist State of Illinois.

Bite your tongue. This is the Land of Lincoln. What worries me is using contrived laws to let in confidential hearsay conversations between Stacey and her minister and lawyer. She clearly did not intend for those to be public. Unfair trial? Yes. If it can happen to that a__hole Drew, it can happen to you.

Again, the hearsay admitted was NOT under the new law. The Appelate court specifically REJECTED the new law. The hearsay admitted, was under EXISTING statute and case law.

Drew's main problem was he thought he was above the law he always had a smirk on his face he thought he was going to get away with it because he was a police officer, had he handled himself better he would have got away with it. There is no doubt in my mind he committed the crime he covered his trail well but he lacked empathy, compassion. He had no emotions other than the smirk on his face. I truly feel sorry for his kids they will never know the truth they will always have questions they lost both their mom and dad and definitely need support of their family and friends.

You have to ask yourself this if you think he is innocent why would members of both kathleens family and stacys family have a lot of similar bizzare stories of drew and how this guy was controlling with his women even this guys ex's before those 2 say he is a phsyco, now if he was a good guy then peoples stories would not sound like that at least one or more of the ex's would be able to say he wasn't that bad we just couldn't make it work. Also the guy has been in law enforcement and knows a lot of people in that field he's no rookie officer he has connections good and bad and lots of knowledge, if he was not smart or had experience or no connections, they would have found stacy's body, had real proof he killed kathleen. So hearsay is the only thing left and too many people got the same story to make him be the victim. He used his knowledge and power to manipulate the system and people. If he is or was innocent we will see but there is too much coincedental happening and similarities to the two wives to make him innocent.

I've been watching the Drew Peterson story from day one me and my buddies always had debates about this subject, personally I thought Drew would beat the case because of
no evidence, but when they used that hearsay
shit I said from there on Drew ass is grass, I don't know if Drew is guilty or not, but he made a lot of enemies with the help of the press, Drew in my opinion was not proven by reasonable doubt but the state have a way of getting you if they really want you. I think don't think this is the last of Drew that we'll see, and if he do win his appeal and make it out of Pontiac (thunderstorm) my suggestion is a lot of people better pack their shit and get the hell away, because it's gonna be hell in our city, lil Joliet won't be big enough for Drew and Jimmy G. They better be ready for more disappearances, because Drew got nothing but hard time on his hands, 23 hours a day in that little dirty, cold, dark, lonely cell all by himself with nothing to do but plot on everyone who played a part of convicting him. Drew will truly be a beast if he ever touch the bricks again!

Convicted on hearsay and no physical evidence. The fix was in. A smart attorney should have gotten an acquittal. I think Drrew would have had a better chance being tried in North Korea. And here I thought we have a constitution and laws to protect us!

Who's to say that Stacy didn't tell her Lawyer a lie about Drew supposedly killing Kathy. There was mention she wanted to blackmail Drew for a divorce, more money and would telling that Drew killed Kathy help change his mind. Sounds like blackmail to me and some made up story. The jury even said if Smith didn't testify that most likely wouldn't have found Drew guilty. So it shows you that Drew was convicted on junk hearsay and no damn physical evidence.

I agree with Buford Pusser and others here. I do not believe that there was enough physical evidence to convict Drew. I also believe that he will be released on a federal appeal. Heck, it may even go to the U.S. Supreme Court. You cannot and should not convict someone on hearsay alone or the fact that he acts like a jackass whenever a camera is in front of him. I hate the media too and he was my hero for mocking them (especially Geraldo Rivera). Friends of Drew that knew him well said that it was his personality to be cocky and goofy. So, convicting on hearsay and public opinion of his personality is NOT enought to lock someone away for the rest of their life. I too think he is probably guilty but based on what I've heard about the trial, I would have stood firm if I was one of the jurors and we would have had a hung jury. Foks here are talking about how we should imagine if we were one of the victims' family members and how we would feel? Well, I would want him hung too. But I would be biased and there would be a small part of me that would wonder if he really is guilty. On the other hand, imagine that you family members are on the other side of the coin and you are the one on triall for murder (knowing you are guilty). How would you feel about being sent to jail for the rest of your life after a conviction on hearsay and a goofy way of presenting yourself in public alone? Scary to think we can be put away now because a few folks made up stuff about us and think we're jerks.
