Ace Could Make Oak Forest the Place, Again

The hardware chain wants a store on 159th street. It's just a matter of finding the right spot.

Ace Hardware is looking to put a new location somewhere along 159th Street, a City of Oak Forest official confirmed Friday.

The new store isn't locked down yet but they are interested "in the area," said Public Relations Coordinator Chrissy Maher.

"They’re still kind of looking in the area for what’s best for them," she said.

Ace Hardware wants a 12,000 square-foot store somewhere along the thoroughfare, Maher said.

"They see opportunity for growth," she said.

Maher couldn't provide a timeline for when Ace Hardware would pull the the trigger. Launching a new store depends on finding a good deal for the space, she added.

The city does have parcel of land along 159th that they are looking to sell off. Officials confirmed this week that a developer is interested in turning the church property into retail space but didn't offer specifics on who.

A new store in Oak Forest would mean a return for Ace Hardware. A 30,000-square-foot store at 15541 Cicero Ave. closed three years ago.

Why don't they go in the old Ace location?

Julia—Not sure. It's all still tentative so there aren't a lot of details yet. Ace is looking for a smaller place, though.

Sounds Great! How about the empty car dealership on 159th just west of Central?

I would still go to tinley park one on 167th. The people are fantastic. I've been going there for 10a years.

Still have my Ace Rewards card and going to Ace was like going to church, so give em a tax break and then I won't have to go to Home Depot for a couple of screws.
