2 Years Later: How Far Juliana Ramos Has Come

There's been a recent shift in Juliana Ramos' mood, and steps forward in progress, as Team Juliana gains its newest, most important member—Juliana herself.

Fighting for a life is no small feat.

Juliana Ramos has faced many obstacles throughout her recovery from an that nearly killed her.

She must relearn the most basic of tasks, including walking, feeding herself and communicating. She is dependent on those around her for many aspects of her daily living, and she might never have the life she wanted.

To some, the challenge might seem insurmountable.

To those around her, Juliana's fight to regain her old life lacked a key player in the early days: Juliana.

She blamed herself, says her mother, and many days she fought against the current of progress. She hated herself, she punished herself physically, and exhausted herself mentally and emotionally.

The first 18 months of Ramos' recovery—though speckled with high points and success—were also dotted with setbacks, struggle and disappointment.

But a recent stint in the hospital and inpatient rehabilitation seemed to bring about a change in Juliana, her family said. After suffering several seizures in late August, .

Ramos emerged more willing, more ready and more active in the fight for her old life.

As her continues to build a musical career and share their love story with their supporters, he spends time away from her, but returns to witness her progress.
